Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
We would like to update you on work to balance enrolment at schools in south-central Calgary. On Feb. 11, 2025, the Board of Trustees approved the relocation of CBE Home Education from Windsor Park School to Bel-Aire School. As a result of the decision, Windsor Park School will reopen as a regular program kindergarten to Grade 4 school for the 2025-2026 year and beyond.
To help balance enrolment in the area, a school designation change will be implemented for the community of Inglewood.
For the 2025-2026 school year and beyond, regular program Grade 7 to 9 students living in the community of Inglewood will be redesignated from Rideau Park School to Elboya School.
- Current Grade 7 to 8 students attending Rideau Park School can choose to remain at Rideau Park School, as out-of-attendance-area students until they graduate or transfer to Elboya School. Students who will be in Grade 9 for the 2025-2026 school year will have access to transportation until June 26, 2026.
- Students from the Inglewood community should inform their school principal of their choice to remain at Rideau Park School or transfer to Elboya School by March 14, 2025.
There are no changes to French Immersion designations for Inglewood students.

How do I register for school next year?
Current students from the Inglewood community should inform their school principal of their choice to remain at Rideau Park School or transfer to Elboya School by March 14, 2025. For Grade 6 students from Inglewood currently attending Colonel Walker School, registrations will be automatically designated to Elboya School for the 2025-2026 school year.
For students who are new to the CBE, registration for the 2025-2026 school year started in January 2025.
The CBE will automatically transfer new registrations from the Inglewood community to Elboya School. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.
Why is this change happening?
The CBE is experiencing record enrolment growth. To address this, changes are being made to balance enrolment across our schools.
In May 2024, the former Bel-Aire School was returned to the CBE from charter school use. The return of this school provides for an additional 200 elementary school spaces in the area. On Feb. 11, 2025, the Board of Trustees voted in favour of the relocation of the Home Education Program from Windsor Park School to Bel-Aire School. As a result, CBE will open a regular K-4 program at Windsor Park School. Additionally, Elboya School will become a Grade 5 to 9 school, serving regular program, early French Immersion, and late French Immersion students.
This decision means that designation changes are needed to balance enrolment across schools in south-central Calgary. These changes will help alleviate current and anticipated enrolment pressures in the area while keeping community cohorts together.

How will students get to school?
Families of re-designated students choosing to remain at Rideau Park School as out-of-attendance-area students will be responsible for providing their own transportation and can apply as conditional riders for the 2025-2026 school year. All transportation from the Inglewood community to Rideau Park School will end June 26, 2026.
Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone.
Please note, modes of transportation for middle and junior high school students can include yellow school bus service or Calgary Transit. Service levels and fees for the 2025-2026 school year will be confirmed by May 2025.
