School Organization
Elementary students are organized into multi-aged classrooms in grades 1 - 6 (3 classrooms at each multi-aged grouping: 1 / 2, 3 / 4). For grades 5 & 6, these are single-grade classrooms. We have 1 Kindergarten class which is an am program. Junior high school students are organized into grade-specific classes: 3 homerooms at grades 7, 8 & 9.
Receiving instruction in Humanities, Math/Science, and PE, students in Grades 7 – 9 have teams of teachers. Complementary courses are offered to our junior high students to allow them to develop skills and passion in the areas of career and technology studies, fine arts, industrial arts, and French as a Second Language.
Rideau Park staff provide diverse co-curricular programs for our older elementary and junior high school students. Besides providing opportunities for students to explore areas of interest, many of these classes can be pursued at a higher level at Western Canada High School. The course selection changes every year based on student interest and teacher expertise.

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
