Books Fundraiser | Scholastic Book Fair

Mark your Calendars! The Scholastic Book Fair Fundraiser is coming to Rideau Nov 20-24! Discover the newest books hot off the press. Every purchase supports our Learning Commons and keeps students reading!

You’ll find us in the Learning Commons:

• Monday Nov. 20 to Wednesday Nov. 22, (9 am to 4 pm)
• Thursday Nov. 23 (9 am to 8 pm)
• Friday Nov. 24 (9 am to 3 pm)

We’ll be open over lunch too!

All purchases earn Scholastic Dollars that can be redeemed for books and educational resources for our school. The countdown is on!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for:

• Friday, November 17 – 1:20 – 3:30 (Jr High only)
• Thursday, November 23 – 4:20 – 8:00 pm
• Friday, November 24 – 9:00 – 3:30 pm

Parents can book a conference via MyCBE.  The document LINKED HERE has detailed steps and some screenshots for booking a School Conference after logging in to MyCBE.

Deadline | Retake Photo Order Deadline

Proof packages for the retake photos have been distributed to students. The order deadline for these photos is Tuesday, November 21.

Online ordering is encouraged by using the portrait ID and access code included in the proof package. Online ordering link: mylifetouch.ca

If you are using the order envelope included in the proof package, it also needs to be returned to the school office by November 21.

Lifetouch is offering a 10% discount on photo orders by using the promo code: F2310OFF.

Orders submitted after the deadline are subject to shipping and handling fees.

Parent Volunteer Opportunity | Scholastic Book Fair Fundraiser

Parent volunteer assistance is needed to run the Scholastic Book Fair Fundraiser from November 20 – 24.

Volunteer shifts are 1 hour to 2 hours depending on the day:

• Monday Nov. 20 to Wednesday Nov. 22, (9 am to 4 pm)
• Thursday Nov. 23 (9 am to 8 pm)
• Friday Nov. 24 (9 am to 3 pm)
• A few shifts are still available

Go Rideau! | Basketball Playoffs 

Our basketball teams have played great throughout the season.  Playoff time is here: 

• Junior Boys will play on Monday, November 20 at Sherwood School 
• Senior Girls will play on Tuesday, November 21 at Robert Warren School 
• Senior Boys will play on Wednesday November 22 at Nickle School 
• Junior Girls will play their first playoff game on November 28 – location TBA.   

Parent Volunteer Opportunity | Fun Lunch Thursdays

Fun Lunch – we require some assistance with sorting the Fun Lunch orders from the Healthy Hunger vendors every second Thursday, starting 11:05 am for approximately 45 minutes. We ask for assistance in sorting the individual orders and ensuring they get to the students.

For upcoming dates, volunteers are needed for:

• December 21
• January 11
• February 22
• And most dates in the spring months

Safety Protocol | Guests to our School

Rideau Park School, like each Calgary Board of Education school, is closed campus. All guests must sign in immediately upon entry into the school building.

In the mornings, or throughout the day, students are dropped off outside of the main entrance.

Reminder | Important Safety Notice for Parents/Guardians (pick-up and drop-off)

With the colder weather, we have increased congestion with cars trying to drop off closer to the school. Even with the colder weather, we ask your cooperation for the same procedures with pick up and drop off.

Due to increasing safety concerns of neighborhood residents and our student community, policing of city bylaws relating to parking and traffic restrictions will be more strictly enforced in the coming months. Unfortunately, there is no car-accessible front door drop-off or parking availability directly at our school entrance nor from the t- intersection at the front of the school. Continue Reading
