Thank you - Schoolyard Spruce Up

Thank you to the parent group who worked on sprucing up the school yard yesterday.  Your efforts and support of the school are very much appreciated. The schoolyard looks so welcoming and bright with the flowers and plant beds trimmed.

Grade 9 Farewell Activities

We will be saying goodbye to our Grade 9 students at the end of June - only a very short time away. There are 2 farewell activities on the calendar:

  • Glencoe Club dinner & dance, June 5, 6:00 – 9:00 pm – this is the student farewell where classmates can celebrate with each other as a class cohort.  Teachers will be supervising.  As this is a school-sponsored event, consent forms are required for students to participate.  Forms should be given to Mr Yackulic.
  • Farewell Assembly, June 25, 1:30 pm – families are invited to attend the assembly to celebrate and recognize the accomplishment of finishing Grade 9 and moving on to high school. We can accommodate immediate family members for each student at this assembly. If a family member has mobility restrictions, contact Ms Cochrane for reserved seating.

Kindergarten Year-End Celebration, June 24

To celebrate the completion of their first year of school, the Kindergarten Year-End Celebration is scheduled for June 24 from 9:30 – 10:30 in the school gym.  Parents / Guardians are welcome to attend, as are any siblings from grades 1 – 9.  Contact Ms McDonald with any questions.

2025-26 Transportation Registration, deadline June 22

With the new changes to school walking and transportation zones, you may want to check if your child is eligible to ride the school bus next year.  To learn more about transportation eligibility and walk zones, read the Walk Zone news story

Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration is available using your MyCBE account. Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes will be posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.  More information is available HERE.

Gym Strip & Spirit Wear

The spring ordering window is now closed.  If you missed placing an order in May, there will be a short September ordering window from September 15 to 19.

Online orders from May will arrive at the school for distribution to students in September, while September orders will arrive around the first week of November.

School Fees Owing

As our school year is quickly drawing to a close, encourage parents and legal guardians to pay outstanding fees through their MyCBE account by June 30th.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is jam-packed with jackets, sweatshirts, and hoodies at this time.  The second most abundant items are shoes, then lunch items. Please encourage your child to check the lost and found area if they are missing a jacket or a shoe.  We will be donating any remaining items at the lost and found after next week, or at the start of the week of June 9.

Next School Year Enrolment

If your child will be attending a different school in September, please give written notice to the office, especially if the school is outside of the school district. Please include the full name & grade of your child, and the name of the new school, if known.

Rideau Park’s student enrolment is projected to be over-capacity with most grades.  The written notice of attendance elsewhere will help us manage our waiting list for next year placements.

Leaving CBE? Save Your Digital Files

Students must save digital files/emails they wish to keep to a personal account or drive by June 25.  Read the Don’t Ghost Your Inbox news story posted on our website to learn more.

Fun Lunch, Healthy Hunger on behalf of RPS’ Parent Society

The Rideau Park Parent Association is again coordinating a bi-monthly ‘Fun Lunch’ with Healthy Hunger.  This is also a great fundraiser for the school with a portion of sales being returned to the school.  Participation is completely voluntary with a variety of healthy lunch vendors to choose from.

Parent Volunteer opportunity: for each fun lunch Thursday, parent volunteers are needed to help sort orders and deliver to classrooms.  Time commitment is about an hour, with the start time at 11:00 am.  If available to help on one or some Thursdays, you must complete the annual volunteer registration, which includes a valid Police Information Clearance.

Volunteers and number of volunteers are needed for:

  • June 5 – 0 volunteer (thank you for volunteering)
  • June 19 – 3 volunteers

Sign Up to volunteer for the above dates and/or future dates.

Reminder for Grade 7 to 9 Students: Make Responsible Choices When Off-campus

Our Grade 7, 8 and 9 students are reminded to make safe and responsible decisions when off-campus during the lunch break. With the spring weather, more junior students are choosing to access the privilege to leave campus during lunch break. Students should be safe and responsible when doing so.

Make responsible purchases: when making purchases from the stores on 4 Street, students are reminded that pop, energy drinks and sugary drinks, and family-sized snack items are not allowed to be consumed in the school building.  Secondly, when purchasing toys from Dollarama, students should take care with what they are bringing back to school.  For instance, any type of toy weapon (ie. water, cap and foam dart guns will be held at the office to be returned to a parent if brought into the school.

We appreciate our parents’ and guardians’ support in speaking to their child(ren) about this issue.

Student Pick-up before PM Dismissal

If your child(ren) require pick-up before the close of the school day, we kindly request they be picked up before 3:15 pm.

When teachers are finishing up the day with students, it can be very disruptive to closing procedures and clean-up for the day, such as the art project clean-up, science lab materials put away, securing Chromebooks, and other routines that happen during the last 15 – 20 minutes of instructional time.  Our front office is also finishing up tasks for the day, often time sensitive tasks.  We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain optimal learning experiences and an efficient front office.
