Staffing Update
There will be some staff members leaving our staff for the 2025-26 school year.
- Mr. Darryl Pavolve has taken a position at Fusion Collegiate, teaching high school and gap year students. Mr Pav has been on staff at Rideau Park for many years and we will dearly miss him.
- Mr. Ossie Long has also taken a postion at Fusion Collegiate, teaching high school and gap year students. Mr Oz has brought fresh perspectives and interesting after-school programs to Rideau over his time at Rideau Park. We will miss him very much.
- Mr. Devin Doherty will be leaving Rideau Park to move to another city and province. We will miss his musical styles at Rideau Park and wish him all the best in his future adventures.
We have one announcement for a staff member joining our staff for the 2025-26 school year.
- Ms Kayla Koshynsky will be teaching elementary music and instrumental band, as well as the school’s leadership team in a Learning Leader position. We are excited about Ms Koshynsky coming to our school and she is looking forward to meeting Rideau students and families. Welcome to Rideau Park, Ms Koshynsky!
Grade 9 Farewell Activities
We will be saying goodbye to our Grade 9 students at the end of June - only a very short time away. There are 2 farewell activities on the calendar:
- Glencoe Club dinner & dance, June 5, 6:00 – 9:00 pm – this is the student farewell where classmates can celebrate with each other as a class cohort. Teachers will be supervising. As this is a school-sponsored event, consent forms are required for students to participate. Forms should be given to Mr Yackulic.
- Farewell Assembly, June 25, 1:30 pm – families are invited to attend the assembly to celebrate and recognize the accomplishment of finishing Grade 9 and moving on to high school. We can accommodate immediate family members for each student at this assembly. If a family member has mobility restrictions, contact Ms Cochrane for reserved seating.
Spring Band Concert, June 10
Our Band students have worked diligently throughout the year in order to showcase their talents at the Spring Band Concert on Tuesday, June 10. Come celebrate music with us at the Band Concert, starting at 6:00 pm.
Lost Clothing Looking for Homes: Lost and Found
Our lost and found is jam-packed with jackets, sweatshirts, and hoodies. The second most abundant items are shoes, then lunch items. Please encourage your child to check the lost and found area if they are missing a jacket or a shoe. We will be donating any remaining items at the lost and found after next week, or at the start of the week of June 9.
Kindergarten Year-End Celebration, June 24 – Kindly RSVP
To celebrate the completion of their first year of school, the Kindergarten Year-End Celebration is scheduled for June 24 from 9:30 – 10:30 in the school gym. Parents / Guardians are welcome to attend, as are any siblings from grades 1 – 9.
Kindly RSVP your attendance at the Kindergarten celebration by June 17. It will help us plan the gym setup and know how many people to expect at this event.
Reminder – Sign Out Procedures when Students Leave School Early
We are receiving an increasing number of requests to allow students to leave school during instructional time on their own without a parent signing them out. Although we did make some exceptions when Mission Bridge was closed to traffic, to allow students to meet parents at the end of the footbridge or on their own, the bridge is open to traffic again, and we need to take care to follow school district guidelines. Students in grades K to 9 must be signed out in person by a parent or adult listed on the ‘school pick up’s list’ in PowerSchool. Thank you for understanding this important safety and security issue.

Grade 6 students will also have structured classes and learning activities during the mornings of the PAT writing dates.
School Fees Owing
As our school year is quickly drawing to a close, encourage parents and legal guardians to pay outstanding fees through their MyCBE account by June 30th.
2025-26 Transportation Registration, deadline June 22
With the new changes to school walking and transportation zones, you may want to check if your child is eligible to ride the school bus next year. To learn more about transportation eligibility and walking zones, read the Walk Zone news story.
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration is available using your MyCBE account
Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
CBE Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes will be posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus. More information is available HERE.
Conditional Rider registration forms will be available via MyCBE after June 22.
Moving Schools? Please Email the Office
If your child will be attending a different school in September, please give written notice to the office, especially if the school is outside of the school district. Please include the full name and grade of your child, the name of the new school, if known.
Rideau Park’s student enrolment is projected to be over-capacity with most grades. The written notice of attendance elsewhere will help us manage our waiting list for next year's placements.
Leaving CBE? Save Your Digital Files
Students must save digital files/emails they wish to keep to a personal account or drive by June 25. Read the Don’t Ghost Your Inbox news story posted on our website to learn more.

Online orders from May will arrive at the school for distribution to students in September, while September orders will arrive around the first week of November.

Grade 7 to 9 Students: Make Responsible Choices When Off-Campus
Our Grade 7, 8 and 9 students are reminded to make safe and responsible decisions when off-campus during the lunch break. With the spring weather, more junior students are choosing to access the privilege of leaving campus during lunch break. Students should be safe and responsible when doing so.
Be a good neighbour: students are reminded to walk on the sidewalks and refrain from walking on and/or sitting on homeowners’ grass & gardens. Sitting on the public sidewalks blocks the walkway; students should use the tables, benches, and other seating areas on school property while eating lunch. Lastly, students should always take care that any garbage items are placed in a proper trash or recycling bin, or take it back home.
We appreciate our parents’ and guardians’ support in speaking to their child(ren) about this issue.
Student Pick-up before PM Dismissal
If your child(ren) require pick-up before the close of the school day, we kindly request they be picked up before 3:15 pm.
When teachers are finishing up the day with students, it can be very disruptive to closing procedures and clean-up for the day, such as the art project clean-up, science lab materials put away, securing Chromebooks, and other routines that happen during the last 15 – 20 minutes of instructional time. Our front office is also finishing up tasks for the day, often time sensitive tasks. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain optimal learning experiences and an efficient front office.
