School Council | Fall Fundraiser
As we gear up for the summer break, we wanted to remind you about an important event coming up in the new school year. The Davison’s Orchard Apple Fundraiser will take place during the first week of September 2024.
These are the best apples and pears you will find, and we don’t want you to miss out. Therefore, we kindly ask for your help in spreading the word over the summer break. Encourage your children to take note of friends and family members who might be interested in purchasing apples in September.
To add a fun twist, the Parent Association will be awarding the class that sells the most apples with a well-deserved pizza lunch. It's a great opportunity for some friendly competition while supporting our school community.
Please look for our apple fundraiser announcement and order forms that will be released the last week of August or the first week of September.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we wish you a wonderful summer filled with joy and relaxation.

2024-25 | Casino – Information from Rideau Park Parents’ Association
Rideau Park School Parents Association needs your help!
Our most important fundraising event is our casino which will be on November 18th and 19, 2024 and will be held at Elbow River Casino. Please consider volunteering for our casino and make a big difference for our students. NO experience necessary.
This casino is an integral part of our fundraising at Rideau Park School. It raises over $65,000.00 for our school which goes directly to providing our students- your children - with important learning tools and enrichment opportunities. This money pays for items like computers, special events, equipment, etc.

School Field Remediation
The small soccer field is currently fenced off to ensure that the newly planted sod will grow properly and turn into a proper playing surface for a long time into the future.
The Rideau Park Parent Association arranged for the work to be completed and paid for the project from their fundraising. They have even arranged for community members to water the sod while growing.
During the school day, we can supervise and monitor that students are not entering the fenced-off area to play on the new grass. We hope that when the schoolyard is used after school hours that the fenced-off area is respected. If we all work together to ensure the schoolyard is taken care of, students can enjoy the playing fields as part of learning activities and during unstructured times, and the community can enjoy the playing fields outside of school hours.
Rideau Bridge and Elbow Park Pathway Realignment & Upgrade
As part of The City’s Pathway Capital Lifecycle Program, pathway maintenance and management work is scheduled to begin along a section of the Elbow Park pathway, beginning on June 10, 2024. We anticipate that the pathway will re-open in early July, prior to the start of Stampede.
The Rideau Bridge will remain open during construction. Uniformed security personnel will be on-site directing Rideau Bridge traffic during construction hours. On-site signage will remind pedestrians and cyclists to yield to construction equipment when crossing the pathway and to proceed with caution. The pathway detour signage currently installed will be updated to reflect that the bridge will remain open.
2024-25 | Mission Bridge Closure for Rehabilitation
In order to complete rehabilitation work, Mission Bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic starting mid-July 2024 through to the end of summer 2025. Mission Bridge will only be open to pedestrians, cyclists and scooters.
This will greatly impact how students will get to school starting August 29, 2024 and throughout the next school year. Planning ahead for how your child will get to school is strongly recommended.
How to access the Rideau Park neighbourhood while Mission Bridge is closed:
- Walking, biking or riding to school
- Walking across Mission Bridge from a drop off point at 26 Avenue, 4 Street or Elbow Drive
- Walking across the Rideau Bridge (foot bridge), accessible at Elbow Drive and 30 Avenue
- If eligible, register for school bus transportation by the deadline of June 16, 2024
- If being driven directly to the school is required, allowing extra time as many vehicles will be travelling along the single route into the neighbourhood, and being sure to follow the drop of loop around 30 Avenue (see map on website).
How will this affect school bus transportation?
CBE Transportation is aware of the Mission Bridge closure. Bus stops, pick up/drop off times and the route the school bus will take will be planned with the Mission Bridge closure in mind based on school bus registrations received by June 16.
More information about the Mission Bridge Rehabilitation Project can be found at the City of Calgary Website: Mission Bridge Rehabilitation
