Staffing Update

We are pleased to welcome Parul Kalsi to our school. Although Ms Kalsi has been working at our school in the role of Educational Assistant for a few months as a temporary employee, she will now be joining us on a permanent basis. Ms Kalsi will continue working with Grade 1 and 2 students.

Deadline | 2024-25 Complementary Course Selection

Surprisingly, we are already actively planning for the 2024-25 school year.  It is now time for students to choose their complementary courses for next year.  Students should carefully review the complementary course offerings with their parents/guardians, plan their course selections, and then enter them into MyCBE via the student or parent account

For guidance on how to enter courses into PowerSchool: PowerSchool-Student Course Requests

Students should have their course selections selected and entered in PowerSchool by Friday, April 5.

Update | Grade 6 Provincial Achievement Tests

Alberta Education has announced that Grade 6 English language arts and literature (ELAL) and mathematics provincial achievement tests will not be administered in the 2023/2024 school year.

It is important to note that Science 6 and Social Studies 6 PATs will still be administered. All PATs will be written with an online application called Vretta. The dates of the Grade 6 PATs are:

  • Social Studies – June 19
  • Science – June 20

There are no changes to the Grade 9 PAT schedule.

Upcoming | Class & Team Photos

Class photos will be taken next week on Tuesday, April 9. Weather permitting, we will keep the tradition of the class photos being taken on the front steps of the school.

Team photos will also be taken on April 9. Both class and team photos will be featured in the yearbook. Students will receive a copy of their class photo as an end of the year keepsake.

Important Safety Reminder | Student Pick-up and Drop-off

We ask your cooperation to keep student safety and with respecting our neighbours by following procedures with picking up and dropping off students for school.

Parents are asked to make a loop when driving students to school at Rideau.  Please drop off on 30 Ave SW heading eastbound.  Do not park in the bus zone or block the alley nor drive into the cul de sac as this is a heavy pedestrian zone.  Never be in a hurry when near Rideau Park School.  It is not worth the consequence.

There is no car-accessible front door drop-off, nor parking available directly at our school entrance, nor from the t-intersection at the front of the school.  Continue Reading)
