Hello Rideau! – August 28

We welcome Rams learners and families to our 2024-25 school year!

Hello, Rideau!

The start of each school year is filled with so much promise!  Once more, we look very forward to welcoming students to the 2024-25 school year on:

  • Thursday, August 29 for grades 1 through 9.
  • Wednesday, September 4 for full kindergarten classes and staggered entry for August 29, 30, & September 3, leading up to September 4.

Whether you are a returning student (or family) or are new to Rideau Park School, we look forward to having you as a valued member of our incredible Rams learning community.

Our staff community are incredibly excited to be welcoming back students continuing to provide new opportunities to reflect on our school values: empathy, open-mindedness, and integrity.

The first stop for school information continues to be the school website. Should you wish to bookmark/favourite this page, our website can be found at:

At this time of year, our website has two particularly important useful components:

1. For up-to-date back-to-school information specific to Rideau, please find updated important information at:

Should you not find what you are looking for on the website, please contact the school at RideauPark@cbe.ab.ca or call 403-777-7480, recognizing that our school's office opens at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28.

As our school year begins, each Wednesday afternoon we share out a weekly “Hello, Rideau!” message highlighting important information for students and families, and outlining important key dates. While each update is featured on our main website, past editions of each update are available through our website’s News Centre

As our new school year takes further shape, yet again, I look very forward to seeing what each of us will accomplish together, within the weeks and months, ahead. We continue to look forward to working with our amazing community of parents and guardians, ensuring that every learner achieves success, and feels welcomed, cared for, respected, and safe within our school!

Kind regards,

Travis Robertson, B.Ed., M.Ed.

2024-25 Casino | on behalf of RPS’ Parent Society

Rideau Park School Parents Association needs your help!

Our most important fundraising event is our casino which will be on November 18th and 19th, 2024 and will be held at Elbow River Casino. Please consider volunteering for our casino and make a big difference for our students. NO experience necessary.

This casino is an integral part of our fundraising at Rideau Park School. It raises over $65,000.00 for our school which goes directly to providing our students- your children - with important learning tools and enrichment opportunities. This money pays for items like computers, special events, equipment, etc.

2024-25 | Mission Bridge Rehabilitation Project

The City of Calgary is currently working on Mission Bridge to rehabilitate it and extend its service life by about 35 years. This means there may be some impacts for you this year when dropping off or picking up your child and your child's route to/from home if they are walking or wheeling to school.

We want to remind parents and students to please follow posted detour signs for your safety and the safety of construction crews. This includes dismounting bikes when using the bridge sidewalk. Allowing extra time for driving is highly recommended as there could be delays due to lane reductions and detours.

Later this fall, the bridge will be fully closed to vehicle traffic for about six months. Pedestrian and wheeling access will remain but please remember, cyclists must dismount when crossing the bridge as it is the safest way to navigate the area with a bike.

If being driven directly to the school is required, allowing extra time as many vehicles will be travelling along the single route into the neighbourhood, and being sure to follow the drop of loop around 30th Avenue (see map on website

For students who cross the bridge during the lunch break, we want to remind them to be aware of the construction zone and follow all posted signs for their safety and that of construction crews. If you'd like to stay informed on the project, you can visit the project page where construction updates, current detours, closures, lane reductions and other impacts are posted. There is also a newsletter you can subscribe to; the newsletter is sent out to notify interested parties of upcoming detours, lane reductions or closures.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us to ensure the students have a safe, successful year.
